VINEYARDS
Stefan
Hajszan’s 14 hectares of vineyards in Nussdorf, Grinzing, Heiligenstadt,
Neustift and Obersievering include some of the best established sites in Vienna
as well as 0.8 hectares of the „Pfaffenberg“ in Krems. Since 2006 all vineyards
are farmed biodynamically.
The
main varietals planted are Gruener Veltliner, Riesling, Gemischter Satz and
Chardonnay. It ist the winery’s mission to re-establish the balance between men
and nature. To foster the vines and encourage healthy and complex grape-growth,
vineyard far- ming turns to activating and creating soil-life. Every step helps
to establish bio- diversity of both plants and wildlife throughout the
vineyard. Honey-bees, butter- flies, earthworms and many other species return.
All vines are treated only with natural substances such as teas and homoeopatic
essences following the strict guidelines of the Demeter association laid out by
Dr. Rudolf Steiner.

Hajszan strongly believes that his commitment to the quality of biodyna- mic
farming and production together with his deep appreciation for his vineyards
create the distinctive and terroir-driven wines the winery has become known and
respected for.
